    How it works

The first two products from the Windrose Software family, OptiLink and OptiSpider, are available today for you to promote and make money with. Additional tools are in development and on the drawing board. The affiliate program and the technical architecture allow you to sell any or all of these products from your site once they become available.

There are three linking scripts in the home directory designed exclusively for affiliate use. These scripts differ in what page they link to. These links can be used for any of the tools in the Windrose Software family via a query parameter, but if the product name is not provided, the script will use OptiLink as the default.

refer.cgi links to the sales letter for the selected product. For OptiLink, this directs your client's browser to www.windrosesoftware.com/optilink while for OptiSpider your customer is directed to www.windrosesoftware.com/optispider.

tour.cgi links to the "5 Minute Tour" for the selected product. For OptiLink, the tour is located at www.windrosesoftware.com/optilink/tour/. The other members of the Windrose Software family will be similarly arranged. A link to the tour would be a good choice where you are doing considerable pre-selling, and just want to provide the option for your client to look at screen shots and a brief overview.

order.cgi links your client directly to the order page for use in those situations where you are doing all of the selling at your site.

All three of the foregoing affiliate scripts set the same cookie and in the same way so you will get credit for the ultimate sale no matter which script you employ.

Affiliates are free to use any of the marketing copy and graphics from the sales letters. You may use these intact, or edit them as you see fit, except that significant changes to the testimonial quotations should not be made without allowing Windrose Software company to first clear the change with the person that provided the quote.

    Tracking System

The Windrose Software affiliate links use a cookie named 'affiliate' tied to the 'windrose software.com' domain. The cookie is set to expire 12 months after it is set. When the referral scripts set this cookie, they also register that information in a visits database so that you can track the effectiveness of your advertising.

An existing Windrose Software cookie, if any, will be overwritten. This insures that all affiliates are playing on a "level field," where being first is not an economic advantage, leaving only good sales manship to fall back on.

If you join the affiliate program, an affiliate id and password will allow you to access to the restricted affiliate area. There you will find a menu to set your personal/company profile, view affiliate-only news about the Windrose Software products, view technical linking details, grab ready made marketing copy, and generate visit and sales statistics.

The visits and sales data are both real time and are sorted by date and ad tracking code. You can also compute your commission amount, which takes into account first and second level commissions as well as product returns.

    Payout Schedule

The Windrose Software company will send you a check (drawn by an American bank in USD) every month, provided your full monthly commissions.

Every order placed at Windrose Software sites sends three (3) emails: one to the developer of the product, one to the customer and one to the affiliate that sent the new customer. Included in this email are the customer's first and last names and email address. Product returns are processed manually, but there to an email notice will be sent to the affiliate that helped generate the original order.
