Do Genetics Affect Successful Headlines?

Listen to this article Listen to this article as an mp3 file
I came through something very interesting this morning. This time, the pearl of wisdom belong to Bob Serling.

Just in case you don't know, Bob is an extremely successful marketer. He wrote a sales letter that landed an agreement for a $25 million deal on the first try.

Bob make available now a simple copywriting "cheat sheet" that lets anyone write high-profit copy quickly and easily.

So let's hear the story...

Could it be that common traits passed down by our ancestors can make or break your marketing?

Consider these simple questions:
1. What is your favorite color?
2. What time were you born?
The fact is, the way our brains are wired, there's no way you can ignore answering those questions.

They trigger an immediate response whether you like it or not.

Why? Because our lives once depended on it.

How do I start a fire to cook that mastadon? How do I keep the sabre-toothed tiger that's chasing the mastodon from making lunch of me first?

Our brains are wired to answer questions in order to extend the life of the species.

But this same mechanism is automatically triggered whether the question posed to your brain is life-sustaining or something as simple as asking "What is your favorite color?"

That's why headlines like the classic "Which of These Mistakes do You Make in English" are impossible to resist.

Your brain won't rest until it finds the answer. Conveniently, all you have to do is read the ad to get relief.

So if you want to increase the success of any ad, sales letter, or web page, try rewriting your headline as a question.

You'll be surprised by how much this can increase your response.

Does Internet Decrease Corporate Profits?

Listen to this article Listen to this article as an mp3 file
Before you read this new story, please do me a favor and read a previous post called Online Sales to Exceed $200 Billion in 2006.

According to a recent market study on 174 major retailers, 2006 online sales (including travel) are expected to rise 20 percent (comparing to 2005) to $211.4 billion!

And continue:

"... More customers use Internet to compare prices, find gift ideas, and research products. So retailers rely on their web sites not only to sell merchandise but also to increase sales at their stores."

Even more:

"... 22% of offline sales are influenced by the web!"

Now here's the funny part of this story. Today I stumble to something that make me laugh. Lauder and a lot!

I won't reveal the source of the information because it came from a very reputable company and I'm not sure if they will not sue me!

But the information can be accessed through search engines(Y!)... this is how I land on the funny article.

At the top of the article I found this ...

"Is the Internet... short-circuiting America's economic recovery?"

Well, an economist from a prestigious US university believes that Internet may be one of "the most important profit-killing innovations in years".

Wow!

I won't go into details and dissect his theory but according to this man, the sectors affected in the near future includes hotels, airlines, cars, PC's and wireless industries!

For these sectors, the Internet will mainly "erodes companies market power and hits their bottom lines".

Now compare these information with the latest 2006 online sales predictions:

- travel: $73 billion
- computer hardware and software: $16.8 billion
- autos and auto parts: $15.9 billion:
- apparel, accessories: $13.8 billion

And the master wizard continue: "What's good for consumers could be bad for business".

Oh really?

He finally claim:

"It is going to take time to really flush this thing out!"

Just in case it's something you do not understand: the "flush"... well, if think it's related to what we call today e-Commerce.

I don't know about you folks, but this article make my day. I have a lot of fun reading the whole story.

BTW, it was written in 2002!!!

Can you imagine this?

Online Sales to Exceed $200 Billion in 2006

Listen to this article Listen to this article as an mp3 file
In a recent press release, Forrester study called "Retailers Integrate Websites Stores to Maximize Sales" make an amazing announcement.

The ninth annual Shop.org study conducted by Forrester Research on 174 retailers, 2006 online sales (including travel) are expected to rise 20 percent to $211.4 billion.

Sales excluding travel will reach $138 billion.

Top sales spots are taken by:
- computer hardware and software ($16.8 billion),
- autos and auto parts ($15.9 billion),
- apparel, accessories, and footwear ($13.8 billion).
Pet supplies and cosmetics and fragrances are expected to experience growth rates over 30 percent, more than any other categories!

More customers use Internet to compare prices, find gift ideas, and research products.

So retailers rely on their web sites not only to sell merchandise but also to increase sales at their stores.

To create a true multi-channel environment, retailers are employing a variety of different strategies.

More than 2/3 of retailers have consistent pricing across channels (79%) and almost half (46%) allow their customers to buy and redeem gift cards online and in stores.

Some companies give customers the ability to accrue loyalty program points across channels (33%) and offer in-store product information online (26%).

"By encouraging different channels to work together, instead of in isolation, everybody wins," said Scott Silverman, Executive Director of Shop.org.

"Retailers have been focusing on integrating their web sites and stores to better serve their customers, which is paying off for companies in the form of higher sales."

So retailers recognize the importance that the online channel plays in overall sales!

In fact, 22% of offline sales are influenced by the web!

Web sites can also give retailers an opportunity to reach out to an entire new customer base, as more than 1/3(38%) of online customers are new to a company's entire business.

"Retailers spent the first decade of eCommerce scrambling to react to and learn about the Internet," said Carrie Johnson, lead author of the report and Research Director, Vice President at Forrester Research.

"Companies are now able to take a step back and are busy planning strategies and prioritizing technology investment for the long term. As a result of these efforts, the next five to ten years of online retail will be even more competitive and more innovative than in the past."

Click here to read more about this market research.

PS: if only 0.2% from the online sales will be in PURE profits, the numbers are still mind-blowing!

PPS: did you finish your niche web sites? If not, do it right now.

Making Money with a Freelance Writer (Part 2)

Listen to this article Listen to this article as an mp3 file
After posting the first part of Making Money with a Freelance Writer, I receive a lot of emails from my readers asking me what exactly a freelance writer do and how this can help their businesses!

So what is freelancing really all about?

A careful reading of this short post could make a big difference in how you think about freelance writers.

If you cannot or do not wish to write your articles yourself, you can search different outsourcing companies to find a freelance writer to help you grow your business and your web site.

Why would you do that? Simply because articles are the best way to advertise your web site, the best way to build credibility, and search engines really "love" (article) content.

Aren't these enough motives to deep down into the marketing strategies with articles?

Freelance writers, or Freelancers, will ghost write articles for you which means that you will own all copyrights to the material that is produced to do with what you want.

Freelance writers have a talent for writing, however, they would rather make quick money off of writing for others, rather than taking the time to build a niche web site that will need to be heavily marketed and promoted to begin earning revenue.

They are usually not marketers, but rather people who have a (special) gift for the written word.

On the other hand, those who are looking to make money from articles are marketers -- like you!

You are looking to build web sites that will give you long term revenue, rather than one quick payment and that is it.

This Internet pool or freelance writers will open up a good opportunity for you to receive the quality, original content that you are looking for to build your niche site/s.

So, a solid knowledge of freelance mindset can give you a real advantage.

Take time to consider the points presented above. What you learn may help you overcome your hesitation to take action. It never hurts to be well-informed.

Ho,ho, ho... Gates Announces His Semi-Retirement!

Listen to this article Listen to this article as an mp3 file
Yesterday, the Big Mogul, Bill Gates himself, said he would pass away the daily chorus in the company so he could more intensely focus on charity work!

So who's gonna be in charge?

Let me tell you this: by the end of July 2008, two people will be learning the ropes of the world's premiere software company.

The first men is Chief Technical Officers, Ray Ozzie. Ozzie, 50 yrs old, worked on the first electronic spreadsheet, VisiCalc, in the early 1980s, then joined Lotus Development Corp. in 1983 to develop Lotus Symphony, an MS-DOS-based integrated software management product that combined word processing, spreadsheet, business graphics, data management and communications capabilities.

In 1984, Ozzie formed Iris Associates Inc. to develop Lotus Notes. In 1997 Ozzie founded Groove Networks, where he developed Groove Virtual Office. Microsoft acquired Groove Networks in April 2005 and named Ozzie chief technical officer!

The second men on charge is Craig Mundie. Mundie, 56 yrs old, joined Microsoft in 1992 to create and run the Consumer Platforms Division, which was responsible for developing non-PC platform and service offerings including the Microsoft Windows CE operating system; software for handheld PCs, Pocket PCs and Auto PCs; and early telephony products.

Mundie also started Microsoft's digital TV efforts and acquired and managed the WebTV Networks Inc. subsidiary. Mundie is also the original champion of the Trustworthy Computing Initiative at Microsoft, which has influenced Microsoft's software development strategy. His current responsibilities also include global technology policy and a variety of technical and business incubation activities.

Ayway, Gates will continue to be the company's chairman and advisor on key development projects(!), but the majority of his time will focus on his (nonprofit) Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

"This was a hard decision for me," Gates added. "I'm very lucky to have two passions that I feel are so important and so challenging. As I prepare for this change, I firmly believe the road ahead for Microsoft is as bright as ever." Gates said.

"I remain fully committed and full time at Microsoft through June 2008 and will be working side by side with Ray and Craig to ensure that a smooth transition occurs."

Previously, in January 2000, Gates transferred some daily activities and the title of CEO to Steve Ballmer to assume the role of chief software architect.

At an appropriate time during the two-years transition period, Ozzie and Mundie will shift to reporting to Ballmer.

In this case, there still only one question: will ever Microsoft, without Bill Gates, beaten up Google on the search engine battlefield?

Tought question....

Making Money with a Freelance Writer

Listen to this article Listen to this article as an mp3 file
How lousy are you? Did you take the time to write your own articles?

Let me tell you there are easiest way to "write" an article. One solution is to hire someone to write them for you...

But finding the right freelance writer to produce your revenue generating articles can take a bit of time.

However, if you find one that can easily take on another regular client and the two of you work well together.... then that one difficult search will turn into a lot of profitable articles and more money into both pockets.

When you start your search, you may want to begin with a very small group of articles, just in case you happen too hook up with a writer that you are less than thrilled with.

(You want to test his/her skills first, right?)

It is important to keep in mind that there are several different types of writing and each writer might be highly skilled in one area, yet lack in another.

For example, there is creative/fiction writing, biographical writing, news writing, general informational article writing, critical writing, copy-writing, poem/verse writing, technical writing, medical writing, essay/report writing, and sports writing.

Although a writer may be highly skilled in one area, many freelance writers spread themselves out into others areas as well. So, it is critical that the writer you choose can produce the type of content that you need.

Is everything making sense so far? If not, I'm sure that with just a little more reading, all the facts will fall into place.

To find a freelance writer, you can look at various freelancing web sites that will allow you to post the specification of your project and your budget.

From there, writers will make bids on your project and provide you with writing samples so
that you can get an idea of their skill level. Make sure that you choose a writer who gives you a sample of the type of article that you are looking for.

Here's another example: if you are looking for a copywriter, do not hire someone who only sent you a sports writing sample. He or she may be an outstanding sports writer, but copywriting is about selling (a product, service, or yourself) to your web site visitors.

As a general rule, the more you are willing to pay per article, the more bids you will get from quality writers who know how to entertain and inform your web site visitors so that they keep coming back for more.

Writers know that you will eventually make a ton of money off of each article or content piece.

So although $30 or more for a 500 word article may seem like a lot, when you think about the service they are providing you and the time and effort that they put into your piece, then you will realize that it really is not a lot for that one article.

If you pay for quality, you will be amazed at how much you will eventually make off of your articles.

Of course, it's impossible to put everything about freelance writing into just one post.

But you can't deny that you've just added something new to your understanding, and that's time well spent.

You can't predict when knowing something extra about this subject will come in handy, so you should file this post where you can find it again (maybe Digg it?).

The Key To A Better Email Marketing Life!

Listen to this article Listen to this article as an mp3 file
When you're learning about something new, it's easy to feel overwhelmed by the sheer amount of relevant information available. This informative article should help you focus on the central points. Fortunately, this post includes good email marketing information.

When most people think of email marketing, what comes to mind is usually basic information that's not particularly interesting or beneficial. But there's a lot more to email marketing than just the basics.

The best time to learn about email marketing is before you're in the thick of things. So wise readers will keep reading to earn some valuable email marketing experience while it's still free. Truthfully, the only difference between you and email marketing experts is time.

If you'll invest a little more time in reading (this post and blog, sic!), you'll be that much nearer to expert status when it comes to email marketing.

As your knowledge about email marketing continues to grow, you will begin to see how email marketing fits into the overall scheme of things. Knowing how something relates to the rest of the world is important too.

It seems like new information is discovered about something every day. And the topic of email marketing is no exception. Keep reading...

For an online or offline business people, time management is basically about being focused. The Pareto Principle also known as the "80:20 Rule" states that 80% of efforts that are not time managed or unfocused generates only 20% of the desired output.

However, 80% of the desired output can be generated using only 20% of a well time managed effort. Although the ratio 80:20 is only arbitrary, it is used to put emphasis on how much is lost or how much can be gained with time management.

Some business people view time management as a list of rules that involves scheduling of appointments, goal settings, thorough planning, creating things to do lists and prioritizing. These are the core basics that should be understood to develop an efficient personal time management skill.

These basic skills can be fine tuned further to include the finer points of each skill that can give you that extra reserve to make the results you desire.

But there is more skills involved in your time management than the core basics. Skills such as decision making, inherent abilities such as emotional intelligence and critical thinking are also essential to your personal growth.

Personal time management involves everything you do. No matter how big and no matter how small, everything counts. Each new knowledge you acquire, each new advice you consider, each new skill you develop should be taken into consideration.

Having a balanced life-style should be the key result in having personal time management. This is the main aspect that many practitioners of personal time management fail to grasp. Time management is about getting results, not about being busy!

But what time management has to do with email marketing?

Well, thoroughly planning and having a set of things to do list for each of the key areas may not be very practical, but determining which area in your business life is not being giving enough attention is part of time management. Each area creates the whole you as a business people. If you are ignoring one area then you are ignoring an important part of yourself.

Let me give you an example.

When it comes to email, a lot of Netpreneurs find themselves stuck. You’re tired of wasting your days replying to the same emails over and over again, but the idea of automating the process seems even more intimidating!

Yet you have heard that there are scripts and software out there that will give you the power to:
- Anticipate and instantly respond to the needs of your customers by answering common questions on the spot.

- Give potential customers the exact information they need, exactly when they need it -- when they’re still a hot prospect -- so they can make that important buying decision.

- Capture the email addresses of visitors to your web site so that you can market to them again and again -– for free!

- Increase the perceived value of your web site by offering free reports or articles that can be emailed to prospects the minute they request them.

- Dramatically reduce the time you waste on daily chores so you can start growing your business instead of getting trapped running it.
Did you know that all of the email automation I’ve mentioned so far in this article can be accomplished with one simple computer-based tool?

Ideally, your goal should be to get automated and then grow. Of course, some of you may already be drowning in email. If that's you, don't keep putting this off! Email automation is going to be critical to the success of your business.

If you're automated your process and use a computer-based tool to manage your daily email chores (and I will tell you about the best one I've fund on the Net!), then you're going to have time to focus on promotions and growing.

If you're drowning in email, you're going to severely handicap your sales and profits because you'll be too focused on trying to just stay afloat.

Remember the Pareto Principle I've told you earlier? 80% of the desired output can be generated using only 20% of a well time managed effort!

In fact, in some situations email can even be MORE powerful than your web site if you have the information and tools to manage it. I’ll be blunt though -- IF you get caught up running your business because you have chosen not to automate:
- Your email chores...
- Your email campaigns...
- Your follow-up offers...
- Your newsletters...
- And your email customer service...
... then YOUR COMPETITION IS GOING TO LEAVE YOU BEHIND because I guarantee that they have automated these processes.

So how do you take control of your email, your time, and your profits, as soon as possible -- even overnight?

Well, to answer, I have some terrific news. I found an EXTREMELY POWERFUL TOOL that's been in the works for the past few years now that will literally manage all facets of email in your internet business. This tool is soooo powerful that it will literally put every email function of your business on autopilot.

From customer service... to order confirmations... to following up with potential customers... it's an easy way to give customers the instant service they're demanding, while increasing your sales and actually freeing yourself from tedious chores.

This computer-based tool is called Mailloop 7.0.

Here's the bottom line: this software does absolutely everything it claims to -- and much more! It takes care of subscribe/unsubscribe requests, it automatically replies to your customers and answers their questions for you, it lets you store TONS of data about everyone on your mailing list, and (best of all) it lets you set up unlimited series of personalized autoresponders!

So let’s leave it at this: if you want to increase your profits using one of the most powerful marketing tools on the Internet today, and if you want to QUIT WASTING YOUR VALUABLE TIME answering and filtering email that can be put on autopilot in the next 24 hours, than Mailloop software might the right answer to problems!

Think about what you've read so far. Does it reinforce what you already know about email marketing? Or was there something completely new?

Now you can be a confident expert on email marketing. OK, maybe not an expert. But you should have something to bring to the table next time you join a discussion on email marketing.

There's no doubt that the topic of email marketing can be fascinating. But you should always leave open the possibility that future research could uncover new facts. So my advice is to share your new understanding about email marketing with others.

They'll thank you for it.

eBay Secrets, Are They Worth to Pay the Price?

Listen to this article Listen to this article as an mp3 file
There are numerous eBay courses available on the Internet today. These books, e-courses, DVDs or a combination of them, are in general designed to help you become more successful on eBay.

Unfortunately, not all of these courses are worth the money that you will pay for them!

Some of them are full of what used to be good information –- when it was relevant -– and others are simply junk information, written by someone trying to make a quick buck. Smile, this situation occur probably around all the (niche) markets.

Before you purchase any eBay course, system or whatever you want to call it, find out when it was written. If it was written in 2002, for instance, you don't want it.

Even though that hasn't been very long ago, eBay and the Internet medium changes so fast that much of the information will not be relevant.

However, if the original issue of the course was written several years ago BUT the course is updated each year at least, this will probably be a good choice for you!

Again, use care when purchasing eBay information, tutorials, or courses. They can be quite helpful and enlightening, but only if the information in them is still good. Talk to other eBay sellers –- preferably successful ones -– to find out what courses are recommended.

I guess I shouldn't have been surprised when, couple of days ago, I was getting bombarded by questions regarding the eBay course I would recommend.

So, WOULD you be a little skeptical to hear about a man who is making $22,000 A DAY on average selling everyday household items on eBay? I mean, that's more than some people make in an entire YEAR!

Anyway, people have been calling and e-mailing practically non-stop, asking me to reveal the "exact" system Brandon Dupsky is using to make his fortune on eBay.

Some of the more common questions have been:
"What is this guy selling?",

"How does he turn his auctions into bidding wars?" ,

"What is his secret for driving TONS of traffic to his auctions?",

and so on...
Let me tell you straight from the beginning: Brandon's system is SO extensive, and SO in-depth, that I can't possibly do it justice in a brief post like this one, but I CAN tell you something else.

His system and course has nothing to do with selling junk from around your house, scrounging stuff from flea markets or pawn shops and reselling it on eBay, or spending endless tedious hours listing a mountain of items that earn just a buck or two of profit!

Rather, it's a tried and tested method that you can use to find in-demand products that you can buy for cheap and resell for massive profits, attract TONS of bids and make HUGE profits on every single auction you list, create stunning ads that grab the eyeballs of eager bidders, and much more.

And now you can duplicate Brandon's system to start your own highly profitable eBay business, and earn up to $100,000 in your first year! Is this possible?

Yes, it is, because I'm consider partnering with Derek (co-author of the system) and Brandon -- but before I team up with them, I want to be absolutely SURE their eBay system will work for YOU!

So if making a LOT of money (at least $100,000+ in your first year) is something that sounds interesting to you, I'll have Derek send you a risk-free "review copy" of their system and you can give it a try!

Hopefully, you'll be up and running and making BIG profits on eBay in the next month or so, and will let me know..

If not, no big deal... just send it back and it won't have cost you anything.

Sound interesting? Click here to review Brandon's entire system for profiting on eBay.

We're Talking About YOUR Business Profits

Listen to this article Listen to this article as an mp3 file
For the last week, I've been talking with my friend, Internet marketing guru Derek Gehl, about YOUR business!

You see, about 4 months ago, Derek surveyed all of his customers and subscribers. And one of the questions he asked was, "What's the #1 challenge you currently face with your Internet business?"

And you know what?

A whopping 74% of everyone surveyed said "email chores" -- like replying to customer mails, sending email campaigns, managing newsletters, and adding (and removing) email addresses from their opt-in list -- are taking up anywhere from 15-40+ hours of their time each month.

Obviously, this is a big problem for *everyone*, so to help you out, I got permission from Derek to give you access to his web page that explains, step by step, how even a computer dummy can automate the 5 most critical email chores...

... Plus, he also explains how, by using automation tools to do this, he made over $3.4 Million with email marketing last year -- and how other people have increased their incomes by 242%... $80,000... even $200,000 using these strategies.

However, Derek is ONLY making this page available for 72 more hours...

So if you didn't get my email last week, or you haven't checked it out yet, I'd advise you to move quickly and visit it now!

Valeriu

P.S. If you're among the first 250 people to contact Derek, he'll also give you FIVE SUPER BONUSES (valued at over $827, but yours FREE!), including the secrets of building a HUGE email list of 1,000s of qualified buyers -- quickly, even if you don't have much traffic to your web site yet!

If You are Already Blogging, Money May be Just a Click Away!

Listen to this article Listen to this article as an mp3 file
If you already spend a fair amount of time blogging, money may come to you literally as soon as you ask for it. Once you have an established blog with a regular readership, it is easy to turn a profit through advertising.

By hosting sponsored links or banners, you can see income from your hobby almost overnight. Even if you did not start your blog intending to turn a profit, making supplementary income from your blog may be easier than you think.

Of course, even for people who have spent months or years blogging, money from advertising revenue may not add up to a large sum.

The amount of money that you can make as a blogger depends on a lot of different factors, but perhaps the most important element of the equation is the topic of your blog.

If your blog is on a subject that appeals to a demographic that advertisers have a strong desire to reach, you will be more likely to be able to turn a large profit on your blog than if your blog is on a fairly obscure subject that does not draw the kind of audience that advertisers need to appeal to.

Of course, the only way to find out where you fall on this spectrum is to try hosting some ads. If you are already blogging, you have nothing to lose.

Lastly, consider making some money from Google Adsense. Trust me, this is the most easiest way to monetize your traffic.

A final thought: beware at the way you accept text links (advertising) on your site!

Since the last upgrade (BigDaddy), Google seems to "hate" sites that sells text links -- especially those who finally ends into "unrelated" site. So choose first what is more important for you: to sell advertising space (text links is the worst scenario) or to keep you SERP's.

Do I tell you that Google AdSense is the best option?

Get Ready for Microsoft Windows Vista!

Listen to this article Listen to this article as an mp3 file
Microsoft Windows Vista Beta 2 is now available for download from Microsoft's official site.

If you remember seeing reviews of it already, Microsoft made downloads available to a limited set of customers last month (sic!).

Getting ready for Windows Vista, available in early 2007, means:

1) you choose the edition that's right for you

2) you ensure that you have the right PC to enjoy the experiences you want

Your first step: download the Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor.

This is a small beta application that you can run on your current Windows XP-based computer to find out if it's ready for an upgrade to Windows Vista.

When you run the Upgrade Advisor (be sure to plug in any USB or other attachable peripheral devices), it will scan your computer and generate an easy-to-understand report of any known system and device compatibility issues, along with recommendations on how you can get your PC ready for Windows Vista.

So what do you wait? Let's put more profits into Bill Gates pockets...

How to Win the eBook Price War!

Listen to this article Listen to this article as an mp3 file
You've written and compiled an ebook.

Now you have to decide how much to charge for it. Finding the right price is essential to the success of your product. If you charge too little, people will think it's of little value, and they won't purchase it, or even it they do buy your book, you will have to sell thousands of copies to get to the point where you can begin to see a profit.

If you price it too high when compared with your competition, you will find yourself steadily lowering the price, which will cause you all kinds of new problems in the future. For example, if you sell your ebook at first for $39.99, and later reduce it to $24.95, don't you think the people who bought it for $39.99 are going to be PISSED?

Choosing the right price for your ebook is one of the most critical parts of the marketing process. The first rule of pricing ebooks is to never underprice.

Determine the highest price your audience can afford, and then if you find your book isn't selling, you can always reduce the price. Before you take that step, make sure you are promoting your book like crazy on the Internet and on web sites.

The price should be aimed at bringing in profits, but you should never forget that price is one of the factors that people use in judging the value of your ebook before they buy it. So always start with the highest price, and then launch a mega-marketing campaign.

Pricing an ebook is particularly difficult because ebooks are a fairly new commodity. Since they are digital, the value of an ebook is as confusing as the understanding of what digital actually is to the average layperson.

This means that we must look at ebooks in a different light in order to determine their actual worth in this brave, new cyber world.

Let's look at the difference between a book in print and an ebook. A printed book is an object you can hold in your hand, store on your bookshelf, even hand down to the next generation. It is priced on factors such as paper stock, design and production costs, and marketing.

But the fact that unites ebooks and print books is that they are composed of ideas. It is the ideas in these books that have the ability to change, or possibly transform, people's lives.

- What do you think an idea is worth when evaluated against the cost of paper and ink?

- It is the IDEAS that are valuable! That is how you determine the cost of your ebook.

- What should I charge for my ideas?

There are all different formulas and methods for determining the correct price for your ebook. Let's begin with honing in on your ultimate goals.

Decide if your goal is to get wide distribution and maximum exposure. This goal is aimed at drawing customers to your business or service, or to establishing the credibility of your reputation. If this is your main goal, you should aim to keep your price on the low side.

Some authors have even priced their ebooks at a profit loss to draw a high number of new customers. The key is to find a price that maximizes your profits and the number of books you sell.

This is an excellent pricing strategy if you are looking to acquire long-term customers. Long-term customers are extremely likely to buy from you again and again as long as the first ebook they buy is of exceptional quality and beneficial to the customer.

However, if your book contains valuable and more importantly NEW information, references, or techniques then you should aim to price it on the high end.

After you figure out your goal, you must figure out what your audience's need is for your ebook.

For example, does your book solve a particular problem? If it does, and solves it in a way that hasn't been written about in one hundred other ebooks, you will be able to achieve high sales at a high price. If your book solves a problem or answers questions in a new and unique way, you should price your book as high as you can go.

You will achieve larger profits this way, but bring in fewer customers. Just make sure the question or problem that your book solves is one that is important and relevant to the majority of your market audience.

If your ideas are not common knowledge, or you are presenting a brand new technique, you will be able to sell books at a high price. Just be prepared for your competition to undercut you on price as soon as they hear about your book.

Keep in mind that the above pricing strategy is temporary. Eventually, you will cease to sell books at this high price. So figure out in advance how long you plan to offer your ebook at this high price, and when that time is up, change your pricing strategy.

If you want to see large profits over customer draw, aim for an audience that is looking for easy solutions to their problems at a low price. If your book is aimed at solving one particular problem rather than general advice, then you can charge more.

Start at the highest price the market will bear to bring in the largest profits, and plan to discount the book a number of times throughout the year.

Marketing Strategies

The key that unlocks the sales potential of your ebook is to find a single sentence that becomes your selling handle. This sentence states what question or problem your book answers and the benefits your ebook can provide.

Then be sure to use that sentence in every piece of sales and promotional material, and every
time anyone asks you about your ebook.

Besides promoting your books assiduously online, there are several other strategies that can help you sell more books.

One is to give something away for free with your book, such as a valuable bonus item. Or bundle several ebooks under one price, which lowers the price for each ebook if they were sold separately.

An effective technique for figuring out a price is to send out a survey to your current customers. If these customers have already bought an ebook from you, ask for their opinion in terms of price.

Do this by creating a sales page for the new book, but don't include a price on that page. Instead, add a number of links to survey questions that ask pointed questions to aid you in assigning a price to your ebook.

Another strategy is to test out prices by creating a number of duplicate sales pages with different prices on each page. Make sure your sales copy is exactly the same on every page, and includes your selling-handle sentence.

Then figure out for each page the conversion ratio between visitors to your site and sales of your book. This will tell you what your optimum price is.

Ultimately, if you've written a book that solves a problem or presents a new technique, your book will bring in both traffic and profits. So be sure to write that selling-handle sentence that sums up what problem your book solves and what the benefits of your book will be to the customers who purchase it.

And then watch your market come to you!

AOL’s E-mail System Fails

Listen to this article Listen to this article as an mp3 file
Thursday, June 1, 2006: AOL’s e-mail system fails. The results: millions of messages were blocking.

AOL’s e-mail system crashed in that morning, leaving millions of messages stuck in a queue. AOL asked e-mailers to refrain from sending messages into the system until the problem is fixed.

What about me -- I'm not an AOL user, but most of my newsletter subscribers are!

The system failure affected both AOL.com e-mail for paid subscribers and its free AIM.com service.

The company said it has not determined the cause of the problem.

(I would say a "normal" declaration. Who cares about the cause? Bring back my e-mails and subscribers!)

AOL representative said it would announce when the system is back in operation.

Friday, June 2, 2006: AOL e-mail system is up and running. Hurrey!

Just in case you don't know: as of March 31, AOL had 18.6 million U.S. subscribers and 43 million active users of its AIM instant-messaging service.

And ALL system breaks-down! Nice work AOL...

Don't Short-Shrift Marketing

Toy cataloger Sensational Beginnings learned a significant lesson last year: pay constant attention to marketing.

"Online retailers must always stay on top of their marketing plans," says Rusty Bailey, Internet marketing manager. "We now more clearly note and understand what works and what doesn’t," he says.

"We make changes as needed, and we’re willing to take risks and trust the gut instinct of our staff."

The company, No. 398 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide to Retail Web Sites, recently took time out to review its marketing plans for the past three years.

As a result of the review and site analysis, staff members were better able to determine timeframes when consumers "look" vs. when consumers "shop" for the company’s children’s toys, furniture and safety products.

"With a stockpile of information, we now know there are key dates other than Chanukah and Christmas when sales increase," Bailey explains.

"A major piece of our new marketing plan is to target those dates and those shoppers, providing them information and color images to make wise choices and a web site that makes their visits more enjoyable."

Still, the Sensational Beginnings catalog continues to be the company’s best marketing tool, he adds.

Sensational Beginnings expects e-commerce revenue of $9.5 million this year and online sales to account for greater than 50% of total sales. The company reached 2005 web sales of $8.8 million, a 26.9% jump over $7 million in 2004.

Easy-To-Implement Email Marketing Strategies

Listen to this article Listen to this article as an mp3 file
Getting the attention of people to buy a certain product or service nowadays is challenging. There were times in the past when telemarketing was at times more of a nuisance rather a convenience to people.

The same goes for sales people who would go house to house and show a product and were simply turned down.

Now as people have embrace the digital age, there is a faster way of doing it as that is through hyper responsive opt-in lists. This is basically creating a mailing list and sending the information to people which will contribute to sales.

A person can do it in the office or at home and it can only be done if one is serious about making profits online. This can work for people who want to do it full time or for those who just want some extra cash and do it part time.

Here's the simple truth: if your site isn't collecting opt-in email addresses from your visitors, you're losing money.

I'm always blown away by the number of sites I visit that don't have a place for visitors to leave their email addresses, but I think I've finally discovered the reason why every site doesn't take advantage of this essential marketing strategy...

People are convinced that the process of adding this function to their site is complicated. It's not! Getting set up is quick and easy -- you DON'T have to be a programmer to do it -- and your opt-in list will quickly become your most valuable sales vehicle.

Of course, once you've started collecting opt-in email addresses, the process of managing them can get scary pretty fast if you don't know what you're doing.

So take it from me: the best way to approach the job of managing your lists is to learn from someone who's been doing it -- successfully -- for a while.

Here are a few tips and techniques that we use to keep our opt-in list under control... strategies that helped us generate $2.4 million from email marketing last year alone!

These techniques are easily applied to any business, so even if you're already collecting opt-in email addresses, I think you'll find the following list management tips highly valuable!

You can read all these and even more into my Internet Marketing Profits Newsletter, issue 66.

Site Maping Using Google

Listen to this article Listen to this article as an mp3 file
Businesses that want to sell something in the market need 2 things. The first is the product to be sold which has to be made then distributed to places like the grocery, the mall or the supermarket.

The second is marketing which is the vehicle to carry that message across to the consumer so that people are aware of its existence then it is purchased.

The age of the internet has given people the opportunity to make money via the web. There are a lot of websites that offer a person the chance to be seen easily and quickly and one of the best right now is using site maps created by Google.

The benefits of using Google are the following;

· It helps people find ones web page better than other search engines because of better crawl coverage.

· People will be able to search on certain keywords that the person put in place which will directly lead searchers to ones website.

· It allows the person to provide specific information to Google about the web page such as the last time it was modified or how often it is changed.

· Using Google straight will allow ones web page to be seen quickly which is a lot better than other computer companies who promise to do the same thing but can’t deliver in the end.

Now that the benefits have been mentioned, it is now time to go through the step by step process to make a Google site map.

1. The first thing that needs to be done is to do the proper research. The service or product has to fill a need that the customers want right now. It should provide a solution of some kind that will make that will improve the quality of life either at home or at work.

2. Next, one should focus on the product or service that is being offered to the customer must be sold at a decent price. Sometimes, the product one makes is already available in the market.

To be competitive, one must figure out a way to convince people as to why this product is better than the other leading brands available. What features does it have that the competitor doesn’t? What makes it unique which is not only about the product on hand but the service that this can give as well?

Just like a normal business where business is done on the phone or in a store, one must acquire the right equipment and machines for the job. These could be merchandise that is either physical or electronic and an online ordering system.

To be successful, one should be sure that the goods that a customer will order can be delivered on time. If there are any problems, a customer support staff or system should be ready to cater to that.

3. If the business is done with a group of people or a single proprietorship, it is best to brainstorm for the best domain name for the business. It should be catchy and will easily be remembered by people.

Given that there are probably other people who have been in the business longer and that it is possible that the domain name has already been taken, it is best to think of several names in case it can no longer be used.

4. When a domain name has been selected, one should enter the URL of the website to be created. Google site maker will then crawl the site and create a list of all the links it can find.

5. Next, one should fix the control settings. Doing this will determine how frequent the contents of the site changes which will let Google know how often it should be crawled.

6. If there are certain URL’s that a person does not wish to be included in ones site, Google can be instructed to bypass it so that it will not be crawled and posted on ones site map. One can select what types of files to be bypassed whether these are .zip or .exe files.

7. Also, one has the option of adding the sites FTP information since Google can automatically upload the site map for the person.
